Homeowners and business owners in New York who were affected by Hurricane Ida can now apply for federal disaster relief, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA.)

On September 6, President Joe Biden approved major disaster declaration for New York. This allows affected individuals in Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond and Westchester counties to apply for federal funding. A FEMA press release stated that "assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the remnants of Hurricane Ida."
